Selector Window

The "Selector Window" is the heart and soul of NuGraf's user interface. After using NuGraf for several hours you will wonder how you ever got along without it before! This multi-function window is packed with features that allow you to modify, manipulate and interact with the elements of a scene without having to "point and click" at objects via the view windows. Some of these capabilities include creating complex object hierarchies using drag & drop operations, hierarchical picking (child, family or all ancestors) just by clicking on one name, assigning or editing materials, quickly determining what object names correspond to what wireframe data in the scene (very handy!), and the ability to easily edit/delete/rename/add any object/light/camera/surface/textures currently defined within the scene.

Fast Scene Component Access. The Selector Window provides quick & fast access to all geometry, cameras, lights, surfaces and textures via a hierarchical list box. The vertical tabs select what is shown in the list box.

Point & Click Object Selection. No need to pick with the mouse; simply click on one or more object names. Completely hierarchical.

Navigation Buttons. Handy navigation arrows allow successive objects in the list box to be selected. Useful during the object modeling process and when assigning materials to objects.

Iconic Representations. The selector's list box represents the scene's contents using small icons such as light, camera, material and texture bitmaps.

Hierarchy Manipulation. NuGraf has one of the simplest mechanisms available for creating complex object hierarchies: simply add a "folder" object and drag-and-drop objects into the folder. Folders-within-folders create hierarchies. Add, delete, edit, rename and gain access to other functions by clicking on a name in the list box.

Fast Material Assignment. Assign materials to objects or to selective polygons. Simply select one or more objects, click the "Assign" button and choose from a wide variety of materials in the material librarian.

Fast Material Editing. Quickly edit material(s) that have been previously assigned to objects or polygons. Simply select one or more objects then click on the "Edit Material" button.

Snap-shot Material Icon. The small snapshot icon represents the material assigned to the currently selected objects or polygons.
